The Slomans

July 26, 2009

This past Friday I had the pleasure of traveling up to Rochester, Minnesota to shoot the wedding of my friend and coworker Garrett and his wonderful new wife, Dani. The trip was a blast, the weather was gorgeous, and both families were absolutely incredible and full of love for one another. It was truly moving to see them join together, and I am so thankful that they allowed me to be a part of it. Congratulations you guys, I wish you the very best!

ToyCamera AnalogColor

July 10, 2009

I have to admit I have a thing for the vintage look that people get shooting Holgas and Holgaroids. Why I don’t just shell out the $30 for a Holga and shoot some film, I don’t know. Maybe I will soon, because they’re not that expensive and they look like a ton of fun, even though the only choice you have (for the most part) is your film speed. For now, I have the flexibility of shooting however I want with my digital rig, and I don’t have to send medium format film off to get processed. This nifty little program called AnalogColor lets you play around with your digital files to give them a lo-fi vintage look, and you can even simulate light leaks and put a decent “polaroid” style border around your photos. I don’t know how much I will use this going forward, but for now, here are the previous post’s images after processing with AnalogColor. I think they’re pretty neat.

I’m Engaged!

July 5, 2009

So, I actually got engaged over a month ago, on May 30th, but I haven’t posted anything on here yet. Part of the reason is because I don’t really have any proper photos of me and my beautiful fiancĂ©, and part of the reason is I have just been too busy to do it. Since we are fortunate enough to have the amazingly talented Michael Norwood shooting our wedding, we are going to hold off on doing engagement photos until we’re able to do bridals at the same time, to save him a trip, but we wanted to do photos for our save the dates, which put us in a bit of a predicament. I recently saw some amazing shots that Nate and Jaclyn Kaiser did using a tripod and a timer, so I decided to give it a go and set up the shots and run around and get in them before the shutter went off. I think it worked out fairly well. Here are a handful of the images Amanda allowed me to post (partly kidding). There are some really good ones that will be going in the personal file, as well as the one we chose for our save the date cards (not shown here). Enjoy!

The Loves – Part 2

July 2, 2009

Hey guys! So, I have been pretty busy the past week with the usual business, along with getting some things lined out photography-wise that I am pretty excited about. Since I promised some images from the rest of Katherine and Ben’s wedding, here are a few of my favorites. Sorry Hayley.
